Race weekend started with a gathering at the home of Gordon and Arlene Rutkia, where the skippers swapped stories with each other, and the members and wives of the Sun City Model Yacht Club.  After enjoying the beverages, and hors d'oeurvres, for a couple of hours, the skippers left to get a good nights sleep.

On Saturday, daylight came cloudy and dreary, with a forecast of thunder shrowers.  By 9:00 the sun was out, a nice breeze had settled in, and the regatta was ready to get underway.

Right from the seeding races, John Bottensek, Mark Rinehart, Jack Wubbe, Scott Vernon, and Baron Bremer were strong, there were two gators were watching the races.  the close racing continued, Skip Allen moved into contention just before lunchtime.  Lunch was served, Jersey Subs, chips, homemade chocolate chip cookies and fruit.  Everyone relaxed for a time and enjoyed the scenery.

Racing resumed after the break, with a lot of close racing, and a visit by a bald eagle fishing for his lunch, he made two passes missing both times, it was an enjoyable site to see.  We continued to race until 4:00, then we broke for the day for some rest and relaxation, and dinner at the Okatie Ale House.  All of the skippers seemed to enjoy the Okatie Ale House and the food.

Sunday morning came sunny and breezy, racing was close and competitive, with David Brawner moving into contention.  Scott Vernon had some problems with his boat but otherwise things ran smoothly.  All of the skippers were very professional, very few disputes, all of which were settled on the water immediately,  The weather turned out beautiful, the staff of the Sun City Model Yacht Club did a marvelous job putting on the event, good job.
