Quick Report:
Satuday was an RD's nightmare. Winds were from every direction and seemingly swirly most of the day. At times there was none. The winds would shift 180 degrees before anyone made it to the top mark. Congrats to Art Haws for patiently and happily running races. He was always walking between the starts and finishes and helping. His large group of volunteers were also outstanding. They were klling fire ants while we sailed.....Finishes were all over the board, but Perkins, Hedderick, Gray, Ward and Kelter still sailed well.
Congrats to Brenda Pardee for here first win in A class!!! She sailed great and she has earned it. She works at this and it is paying off for her. It was really neat to see her dad run to her when she crossed the line. All eyes were on her on that last beat. Her Dad was "coaching a bit" and Brenda politely said "Shut UP!" He did.... Brenda said she stopped breathing half way home to the finish and tears of joy were apparent as she sat on the ground beaming after finishing. Good Stuff for us and a big round of cheers. Also a newcomer to the fleet, another lady Judy Clark promoted into A fleet for the first time this weekend too and she was well on her way to staying there, but inexperience came. She was in the top 5 coming into the first mark and the wheels came off unfortunately....way to go Judy! I hope she kept her first clothes pin.
Sunday was better for all of us with light Southeast winds that built to around 8 knots as the morning progressed. Lots of shifts and lots of opportunities for passing. Fun Fun Fun.
Thanks Again to the Suncoast Model Yacht for having us. See you in Naples! Happy Holidays to all of you.
