Postby hedderick » Tue Nov 27, 2012 12:55 pm

The Naples, Fl New Year regatta will be January 12 & 13, 2013. Plan to attend!
The regatta will be held at The VillageWalk community. We sailed here a couple of years back. The location has only of few trees for shade and visibility of the course is excellent.
We have secured a $69 rate at the Best Western.
Dinner will be at Spanky's, a casual place with good, reasonably priced food ranging from Soup and Salad to Full Dinners.
The NOR is available as well as ONLINE registration at: http://www.floridaec12.com

This year the Naples New Year Regatta will be held at the Village Walk Community. To see this location go to Google Maps and type in " 3200 Village Walk Circle, Naples, FL 34109" . The lake is just south of this address. Last year we sailed at a different location, The Vineyards at a location by a hospital. We will not be using that location this year.

The weather forecast for Saturday & Sunday is superb! Sunny with wind East to SouthEast at 10, maybe building to12-15. This sets up perfectly for the Village Walk Lake. We'll have long upwind legs and a good view of the start.
Temperature in the 80's. Wear your shorts and bring some sunscreen......

An email has been sent to all entered skippers with lots of information about the regatta. In that email it was explained that there were a couple of last minute entrant changes. A preliminary fleet list will be emailed to all skippers soon, but the final designation cannot be determined until the day of the regatta. Please address any further questions to me directly.

Alan Perkins simply dominated. Well done Alan. Dick Hedderick and company did a fantastic job hosting a really great regatta. You could not ask for better weather and the wind was right down the course with plenty on little shifts and puffs to challenge the skippers. Great racing all around.

Alan did dominate to say the least. Great sailing.

This was fun weekend. Dick and his team did an outstanding job for us. The pond is a gorgeous setting with beautiful lawns and a couple of large oaks to provide some shade while watching the other fleet sail. Launching was a piece of cake.

The silver fleet had a very tight result and Dick Reinke and Bill Brown were down to the wire for the first place trophy. The fleet also saw "first time" first place finishes for a couple of sailors. When it happend everyone cheered for them.....that is good stuff! :D

The competition was very tight and really no bickering and alot less contact...I mean hardly any! I commend the Florida fleet on its commitment to sailing fair. It really is showing, and I think we are all faster for it. Sailors behaved, were polite and did spins when they should have. Kenny heard only one protest and the protester won it. Great job guys.

See you all at Palm Beach Gardens Valentine's Regatta Next Month! :D
