Good Morning EC12 National Competitors!

As the official responsible for this year's starting, finishing and scoring, I want to thank all of you for a great weekend of sailing and sportsmanship. I'm sure Rick will post details of the weekend, but, again I want to thank all of you for the way you handled moving the fleets in and out of the water along with zero complaints from those I called over early at a number of the starts. "Sorry!"

Unfortunately I was unable to make it to the banquet Saturday night. Family needs on Sunday required me to be home early so I had to leave prior to the dinner. I hope you all had fun!

I heard through the grapevine of a few scoring discrepancies. I took my scoring responsibilities very seriously and felt my personal integrity was at stake. So, I manually went though all of the scores again and came up with the same numbers.

I heard Ricky Gerry and Alan Perkins were reversed. The fact is Alan had a bad start in the final heat and retired from that heat prior to the last boat finishing. In my eyes that is a DNF with awarded points for that heat equal to the number in that heat plus one. That extra point tied him with Ricky. Ricky had a first place finish during the weekend and Alan didn't. Therefore, Ricky finished ahead of Alan.

The other scoring question was the rankings showing on my final print out. The fact here is that the scores are correct and my sorting ability sucks! Unfortunately for Carter, when when the scoring is sorted properly, he places a little further down in the list.

So, now the scoring issues have been cleared up.

Congrats again to David Brawner our 2011 EC12 National Champion!

Thank you, Rick West for an outstanding Nationals Regatta. To your crew - Tom Phillips, Skip Allen, Tom Germer, Bob and Dee Dudinsky, Reichard Kahle, and Bud Cassidy a special thanks.

Wonderful three days of sailing with the best of the best EC12 sailors as well as great fellowship before, during and after each day.

Hope everyone had an enjoyable event at least as much as we did assisting. I first sailed in an ACCR in the 70's. What a change in the class in my 25 year absence, where only 8 boats could be on the water at once. Fantastic. Three fleets, No index cards!

Thanks Oz.

Now that was cool... As I watched my boat going for the line, I got all stressed out again!

Nice job Ernest. I think having a Youtube channel for the EC12 is going to be a great idea.

Bob,

Thanks for demonstrating the only real problem with a Video. During the event, visibility is difficult for everyone except the camera which later can be stopped, rewound and replayed over and over until you figure it out. The resolution that skippers reach during the race and who called a penalty on whom, is what counts.

Maybe you want consult with Tom G in the rules discussion page and he can help unravel the correct call. Make sure that when you watch the video, take note of 53 and how she ended up in the raft up with you and 05.

Good luck,

Chuck
