12's and J boats in Michigan? Attending?

Postby fvracer1 » Sun Jan 23, 2011 2:31 pm

In speaking with my J boat brothers(Wick and Eric), we are considering adding a 3 day J boat/EC12 regional at Camp Dearborn, the weekend after Labor Day. I am definitly hosting the 12's but was wondering if we included J boats would we get more people to come. The J boats would sail on the Water Ski Lake, around the corner from where the 12's normally sail (different lake). All still within the confines of C Dearborn.
So, if we run J's and 12's would you attend? Please reply ASAP.

When there is a published schedule for an event of J/!2 classes in Michigan, I will support it here and on the schedule. this is what is afforded Mystic and will for this one.

So far, we have nothing scheduled.

The Region 4 EC12/J Boat Championship regatta is scheduled for the 15-18 th weekend of Setember. There was a change from the May date as it originally fell on Mother's Day. Tom and Doug are aware of the date change. The J Boats WILL RACE on the 15 and the 16th, and the EC12's will race on the 17 and 18th. Mark your calendars, this will be a Major Event!!!! Anticipate NOR's around Memorial Day....Frank Vella

Frank,

Mystic usally sees about between 8-12 boats depending on the type of regatta it is. This tends to be about max for a single fleet starting line and a good comfortable distance between boats(most of the time). Sounds like you already have 3-4 boats locally which can be enough to get this thing rolling.

Post the link to the NOR here and with John Hanks and you should get more. You can always cancel if you don't get enough boats.

Good luck,

Chuck

above IS the correct link, thanks Eric.

Does anyone know what the group, "The Happening's" big hit in 1969 was? Tell the registrar the name of their song and get an insignificant race trinket for knowing the right song title. Please don't share your answer! It made it all the way to #3 on the National record charts!

OK here's the skinny...the weekend before the JBoat/EC12 Regional, we are hosting the Soling One Meter Nationals. I can probably arrange a charter of a Soling from one of our members if you desire. Normal cost of a charter is a couple of tacos and a pitcher of beer....

Let's get those entries moving. Rather I should sit on your money than your wife. I need to start planning on a clothing article that is fashionable, shows elegance and is durable. I need to know how many to order and what to embroider on it.....send those entries in....

Well, I am convinced that boat would contaminate my thumbs.

The J Class NOR for this event is posted on the EC12 class schedule.

Attention to all entrants: registration, measurement and practice will take place immediatly following J Boats at Kensington Park (less than 5 miles away from Camp Dearborn.) This is the site for te J boat regional and it would be a waste of time to try and move the marks and course boat and get any reasonable stick time.... bring chairs as none provicded at CD.
