DHL Lost My Boat

Postby skip241 » Sat Aug 11, 2007 4:00 pm

Had a great time in Detroit last week. Packed up the boat and rigs and had them shipped 2nd day delivery back to Atlanta via DHL. The two cases are now gone. Some DHL reps say they have been on the delivery truck to my house for three days. Some DHL reps say they cannot be found. If any of my fellow sailors have connections with DHL and could help me find my boat, please email me to discuss. Thanks for the help. Skip, Atlanta [:(!]

Just incase you didn't get the other message, we need to talk. Call me (free minutes for me on weekends) or I can call you back... 210-724-3827 I was a pilot for DHL for years, and have good connections. They lose my stuff once or twice a year, but had *always* found it in the long run. What typically happens is the crate gets shoved between two others and it tears the labels off. I would find labels in the back of the airplane on most post-flight inspctions and then have to run them down. Hang in there, give me a call. Larry

Jeez, Skip this is incredible. These were metal cases and a major investment. My heart is out to you and my A-hole to DHL. The economy is in order shipments. Performance is big time. I hope someone did not want those nice cases.

Update on the lost cases. Called DHL this morning and no more news. Later this afternoon DHL called and once again said they could not find my house. I told them I would come by the depot and pick them up myself. Arrived at depot and no boxes. On way home received call that boxes were at depot. Went back to depot to find both boxes. Hull box is OK. Rig case had been flattened on latch side. Opened box to find rigs OK. (Flattened side of case was on the opposite side of the masts.) Lesson learned from this, don't ship big cases unless your willing to deal with some heart ache. Joe, I'm still coming to Orlando. Skip

Reichard, thanks for the kind offer. Not sure if I could handle a speed machine like yours. It goes too fast for my thinking processes. Also, with the reputation of boats being T-boned in Charleston, I probably couldn't afford replacing your boat if it went to the bottom of the pond. Thanks again! Skip

YO! No T-bones in Charleston...we like California Dreaming-more like fish bones.
