The Naples regatta is just a month away. This regatta is back on the list and we should support it by signing up now.

I shot a video of on of the races in the pond at Naples several years ago. Check it out:

This should give you a good overview of the pond with the EC-12 racing there.

Lot of big names missing from the list so far.

Where are the Perkins? What about Jon Luscomb, Jack Ward just to name a few.

Come on people, let's make 2019 a really banner year for the Florida EC12 Association. Fill up the entry list.

See you at the lake.

The regatta was organized and run by the Naples club at the finest level. They thought of everything. Tony Gonsalves as Race Director created competitive courses in shifting wind conditions, kept us well informed and happy. A real treat to have him. Tony commented positively about the attitudes and friendly competition at the regatta. Dick Hedderick arranged to have the wind shift to the south on Sunday so that we could sail at their alternate pond. The support of the Naples club was excellent . Thank You all for a great weekend.

This was one of the best regattas I have sailed in a long time. The Naples club did a super job with everything including great weather. Tony is a top notch Race Director. He gave us great courses and kept the action going without tiring us out too much. I was a little disappointed in the small turnout, but a few of the always make it skippers had rare issues this time around that prevented them from attending. We missed Tom Phillips, Jon Luscomb and both Perkins to name a few. BUT, this allowed us to sail one fleet with some very competitive skippers. There was only one protest that was going to go to the room, but I was informed it was mistaken identity on my part. Sorry again to Larry Markey for my mistake. He stood by his innocence the whole time, but was willing to take the fall. Glad it was resolved before he got DSQed. That was a good sport.

Dick Hedderick was on fire this weekend. Especially on Sunday morning. It was almost like he was ordering up each wind shift just for him. The trophies are awesome by the way. They light up with a rainbow of colors. I am thinking of using mine as a tree topper next Christmas. Really nice awards. Thanks Gerhard Kelter for those.

The rumor is this may be the last EC12 regatta in Naples. I sure hope it is not, because it was really a great weekend of fun racing with wonderful people. Thanks everyone at the NMYC.

Thank you Joe and George for the kind words. It means a lot to hear compliments from your peers. The NMYC and I are very pleased that the skippers had a great time. I have copied the comments and passed them on to the entire race committee.
Personal regards,
