I’d like to thank all of Reichard’s crew for a great regatta and it was so so good to see Ricky Gerry back. For everyone’s information, if he had not dropped his transmitter in the water he would have knocked me off my perch and won the Regatta. Well done Ricky and it just shows you have not lost your racing skill having been absence since the Maryland Nationals incident Two years ago.
Following the issues at Sun City it was fantastic racing in a fleet without all the shouting and bickering going on. I for one at the Sun City Regatta was called a ........ by a very senior member of our EC12 committee and I apologies publically if I also offended anyone else and promise to try and keep my mouth shut in future, do my turns without question if at fault, or protest. At the upcoming Nationals in PG I’m not going to get confrontentional, but just withdraw from the Championships, my heart is worth more than a stand up shouting match. We are not racing for $1m but for plaques to stick on the wall.
ALL the top Skippers must remember and be aware they are being watched by all skippers and prospective skippers ashore especially in P&R races and should count to three before opening their mouths and shouting some poor unsuspecting skipper down for something they did not do or were unaware they had done. These skippers or prospective skippers are our ongoing lifeline to an ongoing successful and well supported EC12 racing Regatta fleet. We all know who does it so let’s try and cut
it out. If a situation arises just say #** protests #+++ twice, get an achkowledgement and carry on from there. Do your turn if at fault or go to protest. Don’t get into a shouting match, it does make you look like a bully if it’s done over and over again. Cut it out, the top skippers must set an example.
Anyway, Great Regatta Reichard and well done Ricky for nearly winning but nice you let your father-in-law take the title and a special congratulations to my dear wife Liz for qualifying in her own right in the Next Champions Regatta.
Don’t forget the Florida series starts with the Villages Regatta Dec 1/2 and entries are already flowing in. Get in early and give our new Commodore John Goldsworthy support and entry numbers to get everything organized.
Thanks and happy sailing.
