Day one done and in the books.
When we arrived at the lake the wind was a nice B rig velocity (the forecast was 14 to 18), the lake we sail on has some small chop to add to the fun and we were ready to go. Then, as seems to be the norm, someone pushed the timer button and the wind dropped dramatically. Darn start buttons!
We all left out B rigs on and sailed in wind coming from various directions and various strength. I would call it "Character Building" sailing. You could be sailing along nice as can be in a good position and suddenly the entire fleet would get a puff and sail higher and faster right past you....grrrrr!!! Some of us eventually changed to A rigs but even in light air it didn't help much. Frank Vella (the RD) and his crew did a great job. He even set two courses for a north or west wind. We did get in 14 races and stopped a little early because I think all of us had run out of energy, mental and physical.
After 14 races, and 2 throw outs, the results so far are:
Ramos-25
Brawner-26
Flack-28
Leonard-68
Vanover-72
Mohring-74
Stone-74
Townsend-79
West-83
Markey-86
Gros-97
Boerema-136
Bowers-146
