Missing only 3 of our 21st Century Class Champions. Plus we have two Morgan-Black Champions, Ricky Gerry and Sean Fidler. Tried for the others and Kelly Martin who owned the 90's. Definitely worth the price of admission to watch the contest. Tough fleet.

Hello, who are these guys? Old guys modeling dad jeans? Ok, I’ll give you that, but who’s that holding the EC12 National Championship Trophy?
That’s 83 years young, Joe Cole, proud charter member of the Middle Atlantic Model Yacht Club. We just completed a lovely fall Sunday race day on that crappy little lake in Mt Laurel, New Jersey. Sixteen guys trying to beat Jamey Betz, current borrower of that clanging bell trophy, all shined up on Joe’s lap. We are a modest group of vagabonds who like to mix it up locally with a few national champions who own quite a few national championships. Mark Rinehart, who missed yesterday, was off practicing elsewhere. Beating these guys is better than the Eagles beating the Cowboys.
The bell is in a certain individual's blue van and eleven Mid Atlantic, Region 2 guys (of course, we packed our summer shorts) are on our way to the Nationals.
Congratulations, Jamey, for a great year and we are proud to be a fleet mate of yours. When the countdown timer goes off on Thursday morning, however, we’re bringing it!

If practice day was any glimpse of what is to come in terms of fun, we are in for a great regatta. The laughter and shenanigans are already underway and carving new memories. A thick skin is the required attire to survive if you have any hope of finishing well. The talent pool is quite deep and boats are going well. It's anyone's game at this point and I wish everyone the best of luck in the next three days.

For those who could not make it, your presence is missed and we will do what we can to keep the updates comming.

Sorry I can not be there with you guys. Please be careful of the Michigan guys on the go Kart track. I gave them some pointers on "how to take out a slower kart". have fun .

40 degrees and wind blowing 50 in Michigan today...

Yesterday's sailing was "interesting". Breeze was quite shifty and could not quite make up its mind as to how fast and what direction it might come. Wind speed made it into double digits a very few times and holes were frequent. The RC did a great job trying to keep up with it. The A fleet saw it's share of tangles and protests with some of the more congested mark roundings. As the day wore on, things settled down a skippers seemed to find there grove. Lead changes were frequent and place was never certain until you crossed the finish line. We were able to get 6 seeding heats and 5 races in. The top five look like this and the points spread between them is quite narrow.

1 Scean Fidler
2 Alan Perkins
3 Jamie Betz
4 Chuck Luscomb
5 Danny Thomas

Today's forecast is for a bit more breeze which will push up into the teens which will start to really test skippers metal. Decision times become shorter as the pace increases. Forecast for Saturday is for even more pressure up into the 20s. Should be interesting on this course with 20 boats on the line.

Stay tuned!

Sorry to ask, I guess I should know this but what is the last digit at the end of the Score Line? I see the sail #, the five scores and a total score.
Thanks in advance.

This was sent to Region 2 last night. So it is not a complete set of results.

The 2015 EC12 National Championship were just completed today in St Augustine, FL. The new champion is Sean Fidler from Detroit, MI who also won the international Morgan-Black Regatta in Canada last month. The three day regatta drew 49 boats and 10 from the Mid Atlantic area. Promotion / Relegation was the racing format as 49 skippers were divided into three fleets with four being promoted or relegated in each fleet. Fantastic weather in the 70's for all three days as the Jacksonville MYC put on a great three days of racing.

Next Year's Nationals will be held in late October at the Tred Avon YC and will be hosted by the Oxford RC Laser Fleet.

Final Results; EC12 NCR

Fresh winds today with one heat with A sails then the rest of the day in B sails. We sailed 16 races to get to 2 throw outs for the three day regatta. Good close tacking duels at the top and a few rigs went down due to careless helmsmanship. Places changed hands as a few known top skippers either moved up and a few moved down. Look at 10th place and note the top skippers that finished below that place.

Sean Fidler 45 pts with two 11ths as throw outs. Never made a trip to the B fleet.

Real sorry for the delay in getting these scores posted. I had to clean up the lake and pull all the marks and put the docks back with Baron, Tom and Jeff this morning.
I was very proud of my team, Trish, Cheryl, Karen, Baron, John B, Tom G, Tom P, Jeff, and Bill. The support they gave me was first rate and I could not have run this regatta without them. I hope everyone had as much fun competing in the regatta as I did running it. The competition was top notch and this new guy from Michigan really impressed us all. Great skipper, great sportsman, and very likable guy. Congratulation Sean Fidler. We look forward to seeing more of you on the circuit as well as your wife Tiffany now that she has a boat as well. And, we look forward to the growth in the class in Region 4.

Joe, you and your team did an awesome job. I don't have much experience in these regattas, but I do know the amount of work involved does not start and end in the 3 days on the water. You and your team are very much appreciated for the work you did, before, during and after. I'll be back, and hopefully a little better. Judy
