I am working on our plans for the Jacksonville Regatta at the St. Augustine Hotel & Suites venue. As Martin Gray posted, the hotel has changed its name, but it is still the same great place and we have a great room rate of just $89 per night.

The first post on this string will be updated with the entries as we get them.

I am really looking forward to getting to host and RD. It has been a while for me and I hope to give you all a great regatta. So get your entries in as soon as you can so I can get all my plans in order.

See you at the lake.

17 on the list now. Don't forget that this is also the regatta where the Florida members have their annual meeting after racing on Saturday. For those of us with a vote in Florida, it is our time to present ideas or just pat Chairman Hedderick on the back for the great job he is doing. See you at the lake.

The entry deadline was for today, but I will keep it open right up until Friday before the regatta. I do recommend you make a reservation at the hotel now though. You can always cancel it 24 hours before the regatta.

Might we hit 30 boats? More entries have come in and others are checking to see if they can swing it. This could be a great turnout. Looking forward to giving you all the best regatta I can.

We are trying to plan a Friday evening cookout at the home of Jeff Witzel for the Jax Regatta. Jeff is just one exit north of the Hotel. We are thinking we can do a BYOB backyard dinner by the pool for about $10 per person. We will fill up a cooler with some beers on the Jax Club. That is a whole lot cheaper than any restaurant in town and much more fun hanging out with other skippers and guests without the noise and rush of the restaurant.

PLEASE email me at floridaec12@comcast.net if you would like to do the cookout. I will get all the directions posted after I get a good idea of how many are coming. Then Jeff can make a grocery run to get all the fixin's.

How does this sound? Burgers, dogs, chicken, beans, potato salad, macaroni salad, regular salad, water melon, maybe some ice cream.

Jeff said he has a pool, a pond (so maybe some MM sailing), darts and some game he calls Testicle Toss (something about two golf balls tied with a string that you toss onto pegs) Sounds gross but lots of fun. Don't worry it is kid friendly.

Let me know. Thanks

Not getting a lot of responses on the Friday night backyard cook out. Let me know if you are interested soon so we can plan for it. Otherwise you'll be on your own Friday night. floridaec12@comcast.net

Only a handful of people have said yes to the Friday night cookout. Let me hear from you if you want to do it. We need to plan and buy groceries and we will cancel if not enough to make it worth while.

Entry deadline has been extended right up to the regatta. Still hoping that Danny Thomas, Reichard Kahle, Steve Helander, Dave Linville and a few others will be able to come.

Also don't forget that the Florida Association will hold its annual meeting after sailing on Saturday. So you have to be there if you want to be heard or get your proxy to someone who is going.

I am getting good responses to the Friday night cookout. We have 20 confirmed so far. It looks like it will be a lot of fun. so please come join us. Email me at floridaec12@comcast.net.

Here are directions to Jeff's house:

North on I-95 from Hotel, approx. 5 miles to next exit, Exit 329.
Get off and turn left, get in left lane BUT be careful the two far left lanes turn back onto highway.
Go straight thru light just as you go under overpass.
CONSTRUCTION curves in road, stay in left lane.
About 300 yards will be another light, go left at the light.
Take next left into Wingfield Glen, go left at the circle (3rd right).
My house is light green, 6th on the left.

324 Diana Ct
St Augustine FL 32092

Park anywhere and you can pull into the grass area after the house next to mine.

Almost 30 people are coming to the Friday night cookout. I expect a few more as well. It is going to be fun. Not sure I gave a time, so how about we make it 6:30 pm. If you get lost trying to find Jeff's house, here is the number to call 904-825-3666.

The entry deadline is open right up until Friday night. I have no problem with last minute entries. Still hoping Danny Thomas, Reichard Kahle and Steve Helander can make it. I know it is a long drive for them, so we will leave the light on.

See you at the lake.

Weather- for those of you who like to watch the forecast change:

World Weather online http://www.worldweatheronline.com/golf/ ... aspx?day=5

NWS
http://forecast.weather.gov/MapClick.ph ... TUDrpOukyQ

The nws tabular forecast here is fairly good when it gets down to 24 hours.

Sat Wind will be left to right out of the cove in front of the Gazebo. Prefer more W than S of course.
