Cabins. Free cabin for the weekend is a pretty good feature of this regatta. I am out of the loop on what is happening with that, but I want to try to make sure that people who want to reserve a cabin can actually do it. What I would do is to send an email to Ian at the address below or phone him at the number that is given at the bottom of the NOR. You will need to reserve the cabin from Ian and also need to tell him your requirements, number of people, number of beds needed, etc.

Nice to see that the skippers list posted above is quickly growing.

Still thinking about it. Have to make a long road trip to New Orleans Easter weekend though. Will know for sure this weekend if I can pull it off and will check with Ricky and Becky. Also Danny Thomas called and expressed interest in riding with me from Charleston.

As the apparent internet ambassador emeritless of the Atlanta Model Yacht Club we hope it all comes together and you, Danny, get to call "Starbore" on the whole clan and me and Reichard too. Good times ahead.

Scott,
There seems to be some differences between the skippers list you posted above and the one Ian has. For one thing, I'm on Ian's list but not on yours.

Results - GWTW at Atlanta Yacht Club year 5

Now that was a fun regatta, not just because I won it, but it was well run by Ian Elliott and his top notch AYC team and featured very nice wind direction and strength both days. 16 boats in one fleet on Saturday and 14 then 10 on Sunday.

Saturday the wind blew sometimes light but mostly near the top of A rig from the NNW, swung to the north for a while, some patches of Westerly, then back to NNW. So it was generally down the lake from the left. Lovely.

Skip Alan was the red hot and cold story on Saturday. He bagged 8 wins (including 6 in a row) and 2 seconds in 15 races, but was in third place. He could not sail Sunday, but in the final results he lost only one place in 6 races sailed by the rest of us. Won’t he be surprised.
15 races - one drop every 8 races
scott vernon 35
skip allen 42
dave lyons 45
jack shepard 69
tom phillips 73
dave linville 81
lew english 102
bill tumlin 113
mervin jones 115
chuck ellis 132
robert mitchell 137
don hackbarth 178
bob jones 178
john muhlhausen 183
david pulling 199

Saturday aftermath, “What do you mean you are in first place, Scott; Skip Allen won all the races.”

On Sunday the wind started out about 6 to 8 from the East (down the lake from the right) then picked up to a nice strong and fairly steady (but with shifts of course) B rig wind of about 12 to 14. Greg Evans took some certain to be very good pictures and we will post a link when he puts them up.

Besides Skip with 8, the race winners were Vernon with 6, Dave Lyons and Tom Phillips with 2, and Mervin Jones, Jack Shepard and Chuck Ellis each with one.

Mervin was poised to take home a trophy when he won the third to last race, but got tied up and received redress in the penultimate race and was not able to sail the last one with his hurt boat. That big number took him out of contention, while he would have had 5th overall if he could have started the last race.

The final standings after 21 races with 2 throwouts were:
1 Vernon 50 points
2 Dave Lyons 56
3 Tom Phillips 91
4 Skip Allen 124 sailed Saturday only
5 Dave Linville 127 sailing Marty Schauer’s boat as a tribute to our late friend.
6 Mervin Jones 130
7 Jack Shepard 134
8 Chuck Ellis 138
9 Lew English 146
10 Robert Mitchell 193
11 Bill Tumlin 195
12 Tom Evans 197
13 Don Hackbarth
14 David Pulling
15 Bob Jones Saturday only
16 John Muhlhausen Saturday only

Thanks to the Atlanta Yacht Club for a good regatta, with plenty of wind and terrific courses. Could not ask for a better course.
One memorable and interesting wrinkle was the 3 boat length finish line. Set it up like they do for their one design fleets. We had lots of 'fun' trying to get 4 boats in the space.(widened it on Sunday in B winds.)
Thanks for the hospitality and a great job. And Skip- thanks. Somebody should buy that barn burner straight away.
