John Rowley and his dedicated staff should all feel very proud and happy with a well run two day regatta. Jim Morrison was, as usual, his very professional self. Always on top of EVERYTHING. It is such a great treat to be sailing with alot of very good EC12 sailors. Thanks John. Dick Reinke

Sorry about that KEN MORRISON. I made an error in typing Jim, instead of KEN, me sorry.... Dick

Regardless that R/D Ken did a great job running this fine event.

Got to love that video. Boats forcing their way in at the pin end start, same thing at the weather mark. And then you have Joe with that foul on tape. What were you thinking? Funny stuff.

The timing was off just a bit on that one. I had it hard over but did not ease the sheets fast enough. I called myself and did my turn. That was just one of several missteps I made as did many others. The wind made for a one beat leg to the weather mark, but only if you could get high enough to cope with the right hand shift at the mark. Sometimes you nailed it and other times it nailed you. Everyone jammed up at the pin end of the line for the starts. For the most part they were clean as there was no way to get a starboard start. But when the wind would shift just a little, the few that would try a starboard start would run down the line a destroy your hopes of a good start. Many forgot that S had right of way after so many port starts, and would spell disaster.

Still it was a fairly clean regatta with few arguments. Very challenging conditions with the unfavorable wind direction and sun glare on the water. Richard did a great job. Hats off to him.

Yes, I can see that you had to start way out in the lake to get as much upwind as you could. Every lake has a bad wind direction. I was just kidding about your duck and the starts on video.

Egads, a good training film for my return to Florida. Seems like I remember it.

Hey, how about shorting the start line to 20 feet. There would be enough room. [:D]

I thought it was one of the best EC-12 videos I have seen on the web. We put a link to it on our web site to give casual browsers an idea as to what EC-12 racing is all about. My complements go to the folks that made this video and put it out in cyber land.

Excellent footage. Great to hear some of the fun banter between skippers - just as much fun as hear - particularly things like person X calling ABC boat - that skipper replies - WHAT! reply to that "nothing - just checking" - makes me smile big time [:D][:D]

Looking forward to doing the same to you guys next year in Charleston [:p]
