It's a "Showdown" ....in Motown, and "Motown Mike" is mixing the super strong Margaritas at the end of each day.....hopefully all are having a great time..... DMYC is working hard for the skippers that made it up to Michigan....

If anyone has pictures from Detroit, please post them. I would like to take this opportunity on behalf of Detroit MYC to thank all of te skippers that attended Raceweek 2008 and hope you all had a grat time. We had light winds strong winds, fluky winds and no winds and it only rained for about 2 hours of the 8 day event. Special thanks to skippers Wubbe, Kelter, Linville and Dreher for participating in all three regattas. Travel safe and see you all in the near future.

Special Thanks to Commodore Frank Vella for making this all possible.
When he first announced Race Week 2008 I would have to think most of
us thought it was a litle ambitious for the DMYC. But through his
efforts and determination everyone in this club came together and
pulled it off. When Frank became Commodore it was his vision to put
the DMYC on the map as a premier racing club in the United States.
This past week of racing is a testiment to how well the DMYC can run
regatta's. In addition to 2008, the past couple years have helped
cement in the minds of the many who came that the DMYC is a premier
racing club. For those not aware, we now have Class Secretaries from
fleets not sailed in Detroit contacting us to run their National
Championship regattas. Frank has turned them down, but it only shows
word has gotten around about the DMYC.

Congratulations Frank on a job well done and for fullfilling the
vision of putting the Detroit MYC on the map.

Frank, Eric and DMYC,
Thank you very much for all your efforts. An event like that does not come together without a lot of work and cooperation. The lakeside margaritas were a great way to bring the fleet back together after a long day of racing. Thanks again.
