Can you post the line scores for these 20 races. People should see the ups and downs of a tough sailing regatta in saltwater, winds into B range, high seas with cold and rain. We had it all but snow. It is not easy to compete............It was a blast.

That was as close to big-boat sailing as it gets in this "hobby." As Rick noted--a blast! Bows leaping out of the waves upwind, surfing at near-hull-spead on the run, overstanding the layline at the windward mark by a couple lengths to time the current...good stuff.

Talked to Chuck earlier today and will re-iterate what I told him, that it was heartening to see a MINIMAL amount of raised voices and salty conduct in those tough conditions. Good work all.

Thanks to the RD and RC for running a great event in challenging conditions. Specifically, thanks to Jake for ensuring enough races run to provide three throw-outs! (thereby hiding 2 DNFs and 1 DNS for myself as 'ole #633 had its share of Nor'easter issues, including a blown main winch, water in the receiver, one fried battery, a shot antenna, snapped spreader...need I go on...)

I love it. Those that indure reap the rewards...the grin and fun of doing it and surviving.

Here are some numbers that indicate what an offshore event is like. Newport is offshore for the EC12 (Weather, seas and wind). The score to not meet the bell or finish a race was 14. There were a lot of fourteens. Here are the three throwouts of those that completed the event. In parin are the 14s:

Thank you for such an great regatta! I really enjoyed sailing with a new fleet and especially with people who are sailors of the "finest kind" as they say downeast. The conditions were a refreshing departure from the Florida "same old, same old" sunburn and smothering heat. I just hope my boat does't corrode into a rust-ball as it always had the most water below.

Awesome photos Bob! I never actually saw the 12M come sailing into port while we were racing.

Sorry we don't get to sail together more often. I really enjoyed meeting Kelly. Nice to talk to someone from PBG!

The regatta report is done and should be posted shortly. The pictures say more than I could write.

I would do it again this weekend if we could!

Just a head up to those who stayed at the Motel 6 in Newport, RI. Check your statement. I was billed for a room on April 3 (the reservation was made for May 3) and they also charged me for two rooms when I only reserved one. Corporate said they would refund over $ 165. in over charges. Thought you should know.

I also thought it interesting how <b></b>old <b></b>many of the boats were ,even at the top finishing spots.Dave said he was sailing his last "DB" ,a "Treasure Tooling" in 2nd, a 20 + year old Ozmun in third is testamony to the longevity of these great boats.
