Regatta Locations on Google Earth

Postby yachtie » Tue Jul 17, 2007 10:50 pm

Hi all you lot way up north of the equator.

As a lurker and follower of the 12 up your way is it possible when listing regattas to maybe give us who can't be there a Google Earth reference for the ponds. I love to nosy around on this and it would be good to see where you all sail across the country.

As an example I have located and bookmarked the 2007 nats pond.

Am looking forward to attending the next "International" in 2009 over your side of the pacific Pond - savings are underway and research on better and lighter travelling cases for boats.

Cheers

Chris, I have been wanting to put a thumbtack on all the club locations on Google Earth for a while, but I never get around to it. Here are the LAT & LONG of the lakes we sail in Florida.

Jacksonville main lake: 30°19'12.69"N, 81°38'05.98"W
Jacksonville regatta lake: 29°59'08.30"N, 81°27'27.15"W
So Daytona: 29°09'01.72"N, 81°00'58.82"W
Orlando/Deland: 28°58'47.29"N, 81°15'42.51"W
The Villages: 28°54'51.69"N, 82°00'26.62"W
St. Petersburg: 27°51'44.63"N, 82°41'51.83"W
Naples: 26°15'06.61"N, 81°42'42.20"W
Palm Beach Gardens: 26°48'55.67"N, 80°05'15.08"W

I love Google Earth. I just wish it was more current. Some of the images are over 5 years old.

By the way, my club (Jacksonville MYC) is now integrated. We have a Kiwi member now.[:D]

P.S. There are other clubs in Florida like Card Sound in Key Largo that we hope to bring on board.
