Inaugural EC-12 Race

Today marked a major milestone in Sooner State Model Yacht Club
history. We held our first ever non-Victoria event. Ray Wright,
Charlie Shelden and Eric Meyn waited out a thunderstorm and kicked
off a late evening EC-12 race on the Yukon pond.

While winds were forecast to be 8 - 10, they were more like .8 - 1.
But I have to say that even in winds that light, the EC-12 moves
well, amazingly well! I've been loyal to the Victoria for years but
I have to say, sailing the EC was a real joy! I hope to see this
class growing in the club. You won't regret owning one of these
graceful giants.

Even with the 7:00pm start and the almost non-existent winds, we
were able to get in four races. Ray Wright won this special event
by one point with two bullets and two seconds for a total of six
points. Right on his heels was Eric Meyn with two bullets, a two
and a three and a total of seven points. Charlie Shelden rounded
out the field with three threes and a two and 11 points.

I plan on trying to put together more EC-12 events before the year
is over. I think Ray has an extra one he'd be willing to loan if
someone wants to join us. Just be ready to be hooked!

Our next event is this Sunday at 6:00pm. Hope to see everyone out
there.

Regards,

Eric

It was an exciting time for us. I hope we can hold another event in a few weeks. Thanks to all on this board for assisting us in getting some boats going.

That is wonderful. Boats begat boats. Having them in the water will be come a draw. However, you can have some fun with a small group in the mean time.

You guys start getting active in a month or so with all you know in R5 in all classes to remind them of the coming ballot issue of MY. Frank will do what he can on EC12Net.

Congratulations...and Hello Herkman!
