The 2006 Worlds - Final Information

NEW ZEALAND 2006
Inter-Country Challenge, Nelson, New Zealand
From: Philip Whitley, Commodore Radio Yacht Squadron Nelson

Dear Skipper,

Greetings from the team at Radio Yacht Squadron Nelson (RYSN). We are looking forward to meeting with you, in what we hope is an unprecedented international event, "the Olympics of world radio control sailing"

Over the past twelve months RYSN members have worked hard to develop a pond that promises great access to the water from anywhere, wind that is extreme in behaviour. Let's hope that the history of the consistent winds we have had over the past four years at this pond continue through the event.

We are pleased to announce that Craig Jones, New Zealand's international OOD has accepted the position for the entire event, Thank you Craig.

Meals will be available for you to purchase from a food bus in the campground in the morning, and at the sailing venue through the day. The bus sells a large variety of breakfasts and day meals, and also includes coffee's, teas, fruit drinks etc. The host club will supply the Saturday night meal to all our international competitors free of charge and in recognition of their commitment to travel to our country.

Each competitor will get a free shirt and small trophy to memorialise their individual attendance at the event. International attendees will also get a raincoat and Cap, New Zealand competitors may wish to purchase these items at cost. Gumboots will be required for the event, however the pond is a clean (not mud) stone bottom pond and I will be in bare feet as usual. For launching just walk into the water, which is easier than launching off a jetty.

Should any of our International skippers require boots, please provide your foot size and we will have these ready for you.

Please find below the order of events, officials and Rules of Racing for your information.

Once again we look forward with great excitement to seeing you soon.

Kind Regards

Philip Whitley (Commodore Radio Yacht Squadron Nelson)
