2022 EC12 Triangle Cup Regatta
by Gerry Cobley

The day started with wind that was too light to agitate telltales, and barely enough to identify a wind
direction for setting a course. But it was enough to sail on the calm surface of Lake Crabtree, and all morning
Skip Miller of Jacksonville, FL schooled the fleet on how to keep an EC12 moving in imperceptible wind.
After a great lunch the wind filled in a bit more, with some oscillation to keep the race committee busy
shifting the course. It’s said the sun shines on every dog eventually, and so it was with our fleet of EC12s.
Winners of one race might find themselves tail-enders in the next one, and vice-versa.
Each skipper had ups and downs, but the top finishers had to work for it and earned every position
gained. There were a few collisions and a dismasting when skippers disputed the same piece of water, but
everyone was able to make repairs and continue sailing, often improving their position.
Overall, it was a day of sailing in good company with beautiful weather, warm and clear but not too hot.
