David Brawner Spirit of Sailing Award

Postby Chuck Luscomb » Thu Aug 15, 2019 12:20 pm

Good afternoon everyone.

The EC12 Class and its leadership are proud to announce the addition of a new award to be presented at the 2019 Nationals in Stowe VT and each NCR following.

The award will be called the "David Brawner Spirit of Sailing Award". It will be awarded to the skipper who most exemplifies Dave Brawner's unique spirit both on and off the water. The recipient will be voted on by the fellow class members at each NCR. Voting will be in ballot form with any special notes that anyone would like to share to be read aloud at the presentation ceremony.

The award will consist of a Perpetual trophy that remains with the class and a brass plaque with that recipients name added post the NCR. An individual award will also be given that the recipient can take with them. We will not be revealing the specifics about these awards quite yet as they will be very special.

We are all saddened by the loss of our dear friend and this is a way to keep his spirit alive on the playground he held so close.

Please join us at the 2019 NCR in Stowe for a special tribute to David and sail#53.

Well said, Chuck. Terrific announcement and a great way to remember what was the best of Dave Brawner; his spirit. Looking forward to seeing everyone in Stowe in a few weeks.
