2018 Gator Regatta in The Villages

Postby Alan Perkins » Thu Oct 25, 2018 6:34 pm

On behalf of our new Commodore John Goldsworthy I’d like to invite you all to sign up for the first of the Florida Championship Regattas to be held in The Villages on Dec 1&2
I’ve already got a house full of previous champions coming and hopefully other TVMYS members will be able to accommodate other visiting skippers. Our local hotels are detailed in the Notice of Regatta. Get onto the local guys you know and see if they have spare rooms. We are all very friendly retired folk.
Let’s make this a big start to the 2019 series .
Regards
Alan Perkins
Commodore Retired.

Hats off to Alan Perkins on his win at the Villages. Off and on rain with fluky winds was the order of the day on Saturday. The winds was from ESE which gave us some long beats. Sunday was very nice weather with a fair breeze but from the South. That meant sailing away from shore. Makes for a lot of crashes at the windward mark, but everyone seemed to know they screwed up and did their turns without argument.

Thanks to John Goldworthy and crew for putting on a great event and thanks to Ken Morrisson for opening up his home for the Friday night party.

It was also really cool to meat Bruce Farr and talk about yacht designs over the years. We are working on getting him an EC12, but he seems to be looking at that darn DF95.
