Annapolis Regatta 2018 (RCR-R2)

Hello Mates!

The Annapolis Regatta is back in the Colonial Cup after a one year hiatus. This year we are hosting the Regional Championship for R2. Stay tuned to this channel for updates as we look forward to treating everyone to a high caliber weekend.

The Annapolis Regatta and Region 2 Championship is fast approaching so be sure to get your entry in ASAP.
We will be back sailing at the Farm Pond again which is a fantastic location if you have not been there before.

So I filled out my entry. Scott Graf is lending me his boat and I am going to do my best to stop that Ramos guy from winning. Of course he is letting me stay in his house, so maybe I will have to give him more room at the windward mark. Who else is on the entry list so far? Let's fill this regatta up people.

As a semi-empty nester, I have at least two empty rooms. First come first served. One single, one double. Possible pull out couch(es) available also.

The 10th Annual Annapolis Regatta, Region 2 Championship and third leg of the Colonial Cup is in the books. The racing did not disappoint despite chasing breeze for much of the weekend. Saturday provided the best day with 4-8 knots of breeze, which was 45 degrees off the best angles of the pond making a good start rather important. So with two skewed courses the sailors had to pick the best lanes to get to the top marks. The group got 14 decent races in on Saturday because the predictions for Sunday were not pretty--hot, humid and little wind. There were three lead changes in the last four races of the day. The top three places after day one were separated by only 3 points, with Jamey Betz leading Dave Brawner and Dave Ramos.

Sunday the breeze was 0-4 from the same predominant direction--the four in the early hours of the morning was nice as the prediction was for it to fill in at 1pm. We fit in three races after a brief delay for the fan to turn on. We took an early lunch when the fan broke again, and decided to call the regatta with the fickle forecast and the scorching sun.

I'd like to give a couple shout outs to Dave Ramos for providing the individual trophies, the floating dock and a bunch of preliminary effort. To Rick Boulay for providing the awesome chase boat, I'm so happy not to have had to paddle all weekend. To Earnest Freeland for providing support items and assistance with scoring. To David Branning for providing the marketing and Ginger Beer! To Judy Bonanno for photographing the event, check back for the SmugMug links. And finally to Spencer Graf for assisting with the chase boat, splashing and retrieving boats and all around helping me run the regatta. The final scores are listed below.

Good going, Scott: That was a perfect regatta summary. You made this a great weekend with the R2 EC12 team. Thanks for all your hard work and support from Spencer Graf, Ernest Freelend and Dave Ramos. We were well treated at the Warrington Farm venue. On to Tilghman Island in a month.
