Thanks to Roger Baldwin for never giving up and going out of his way to return the boat to Alex.

Long story but the club property manager had a buddy that was a diver and had him dive for it. It was right were it went down. We hooked it as the jib had a tier along the luff where we hooked it until it broke free. Think Roger hooked it in the deck as well. They were not going to let us know they recovered it but did not count on Rogers network spilling the beans. He convinced the guy to give it back to Alex and Alex just needs to fwd him photos of the boat when restored.
Only thing salvageable is the hull, ballast and some fittings everything else has to be replaced. Sails and rig are toast and only thing from the rig salvaged the gooseneck fittings, spreaders and booms.
Another gift to Alex was a new complete radio board and electronics ready to install in the hull.
A lot of work to be done. Water logged balsa cored deck must be removed, hull cleaned and new electronics installed. A new deck is in the planning stages with some special additions in the planning stages (like a really good hatch. Lol) Some of the deck fittings might be salvaged but we will have to wait and see.

Will keep you posted and thanks again Roger you made Alex's Christmas..

I thought I would post some photos of the Phoenix now that she has been rebuilt and is back in the water sailing again.

Once we removed the damaged old balsa cored deck and gutted the interior we installed the new radio board and electronics. The new foam cored deck was sent out and had a simulated wood veneer hyrdographic was applied and this was clear coated. The deck was joined to the hull and the hull deck joint was sanded and faired. The entire hull was then sanded and faired for painting. The bottom was painted white and a dark metallic blue topsides with dbl gold waterlines and cove strips were added and than the entire hull was clear coated. After this set up the hull was wet sanded and polished. we applied a gold stylized phoenix to the foredeck and a new rig and set of sails finished out the rebuild.
She was christened and had her madden sail at Stowe VT this year and proved to me as fast as she was beautiful finishing fourth.
