Skipper's Meeting 9:30

First Race: 10:00

1. This event happens on 12/07 or not at all. By registering, you are basically buying whatever Nick embroiders for us and, if Mother Nature cooperates, we'll get some racing in. Hopefully, she is in a better mood this year.

2. We will use whatever scoring system that is dreamed up between now and then.

3. Come celebrate the end of what has been an awesome year.

I'm bringing my fur lined snorkel parka, snow shoes, tire chains and a survival kit. Hopefully I'll have room for the boat.

There is talk of some of R1s skippers coming south to enjoy the warmer temps in NJ. We are looking for a trailer for our ice fishing shack. It has heat, seating for 8, a fridge, a blender and sat TV with a 54" TV. So we need a BIG trailer. Based on last year, we will have standing room only as we are selling tickets to get in.

Just a reminder that we can not accept any registrations after 11/26 due to pending travel plans prior to the regatta.

It's hard to tell if the snow last night was Mother Nature warming up for something bigger on 12/07. Let's hope not.

21 boats for a regatta that doesn't count? Holy jib sheet Batman! :D

Now all we need is no snow and soft water.

What do you mean it doesn't count? What is standing at the end of this regatta other than local pride to bravery in sailing. :)

Today was Mother Nature's version of cooperation. Her "north northeast" breeze had the valiant group of 17 sailors sailing off the far shore of Laurel Acres Park. It was a steady breeze somewhere in the zero to 20 range firmly out of somewhere between an easterly and westerly direction. Basically, it was typical Mount Laurel conditions. At least, while it wasn't all that warm, it wasn't all that cold either....and, no snow!!

Top man at this regatta year after year is Nick Mortgu, who takes care of all the swag and food. Coming in a close second in that department was Kevin MacClellan, who brought tee shirts for everyone.

For a racing format, we started with the CESS Pool for the first nine races and then changed to Line of Excellence for the afternoon. As a little twist, 360's were replaced with a penalty mark that needed to be rounded for exoneration. The name for this mark vacillated between Mark of Shame and Mark of Honor.

This was a great celebration to end what has been a fantastic racing season. Thanks go to all the sailors for coming out today. Also, thanks to Skip, Dave and Jerry, who joined the race committee after deciding not to sail. Nick and I had a great time. It was almost worth coming home from Amsterdam for it. :D We look forward to FYBOR 5.
