Race Week--EC-12 National Championship Regatta--Day 1,Thurs 9-18-14
So now things get serious-The 2014 EC-12 National Championship Regatta

It was announced that there would be NO seeding races, nor would they use the
usual promotion/regulation system of scoring--the scoring system will have to be explained by someone else, because I don't want to get the details wrong.

Race Week--EC 12 National Championship Regatta--Day 2, Fri. 9-19
arrrrrrr ye scurvy dogs -we'll hit 'em with a broadside then board 'em--we come
to loot, burn and sink ! grape shot in the 24 pounders lads then it's cutlass work !
Today was "Talk Like A Pirate Day" by the way. (arrrrrrrr)

Capn' Brawner had us decamp from the main lake at Vernon Hills and head overland to the long narrow "fountain lake" , which is behind the pavilion at the southeast corner of Big Bear Lake. it was sunny and warm ( the high today was in the mid 70s) with a south wind 4 to 6mph when racing began on the windward /leeward course. "A" rigs were fine but it was obvious the breeze was freshening as the morning progressed, 6 races were run by noon and the lunch break - the wind had already started to be in the mid teens, so shorted rigs went on the boats after that.By today's end 24 races have been completed so far .
Here's the top ten

Race Week-EC 12 Nats--Sat 9-20-14 Day 3----FINAL Results
Interesting day today, heavy winds were predicted and afternoon storms.
at 9am it was partly cloudy, south winds @ 5mph and building, so the 22 yachts
starting had to decide between "A" or "B" rigs. The wind did increase but eased
later. The goal was for 36 races for this regatta--33 were run in total, by 1:30 pm
the drizzle began and the event was done. Lets get right to the results..............

The Chicago Model Yacht Club could not have done anything more for us. All the volunteers were simply amazing. I also want to thank the other three EC12 skippers that gave up their chance to sail to serve of the race committee; Ken Shaw, Nick Mortgu and Skip Hall.

Jamey sailed a perfect championship regatta. He will make a great champion. It was a highlight of my model sailing career when all six past champions handed Jamey the trophy. Fantastic stuff. Looking forward to doing this again.

To all who made the trip, thanks for the fun. Thanks for the memories....indoor skydiving, cubs game, dinner in Chicago and, last but not least, Whirlyball. Hopefully the bruises heal quickly. Time to start the 14 hour trip home.
