Not sure why but it seems that this years Stowe Regatta is drawing a ton of interest. Normally, we get one or two going from Southern New England but this year we have Ten! Crazy I know but it seems that this year is going to be a two fleet event.

Really hoping to make this one, but it's totally dependent upon what New York decides to do in the NHL this week.
(Makes Sense, donut?)

Save a case of Topper for me if I can :)
If not, Trout River Red will suffice.

Here is the regatta report, with full results...........

2014 EC12 Green Mountain Regatta

By: Charlie Berry

Stowe Yacht Club and The Commodores Inn held this annual event on the pond behind the Inn, in Stowe, Vermont. The regatta is part of the New England Cup Championship Series. There were 23 competitors, including three from Nova Scotia.

This regatta easily retained its reputation for providing variable conditions for the competitors, both in terms of wind velocity and wind direction. While Saturday’s breezes were often moderate, the weather front couldn’t make up its mind, and we ended up with easterly breezes (blamed on the “Nova Scotia low” out in the Atlantic) competing with northwesterly breezes from a high coming in from Ontario. Either way, we blamed the Canadians! On Sunday, we experienced light breezes that kept trying to fill from the southwest, but with many lulls and holes out on the pond.

With 23 boats, we used the EORS two-fleet system, moving four boats up and down. We used the Class Ranking System and added one seeding race, which did not count in the scoring. A total of 13 races (26 heats) were run over the two days. On Saturday, it looked like a repeat of last year, with Dave Brawner and Chuck Luscomb having a virtual match race within a regatta. They were tied for 1st, each with 13 points. Mark Rinehart, who hadn’t been to Stowe since 2011, was in 3rd with 19 points. Al Dion and Bruce Nourjian were 10 and 12 points back, in 4th and 5th respectively.

The lighter breezes on Sunday stirred up the standings a bit. Mark Rinehart put on a clinic in consistency in trying conditions, throwing out a 3rd for the 6 races. This gave Mark a 4-point victory for the regatta. Chuck Luscomb held off Dave Brawner by 2 points for 2nd and 3rd respectively. Bruce Nourjian moved up to 4th, followed by Dave Van Cleef in 5th.

There were three skippers from Nova Scotia this year, a group that is gradually building up its EC12 fleet. (A boat from Jim Linville was going back to Nova Scotia with the group).

Congratulations to Mark for his victory this past weekend. Exceptional effort in very difficult conditions. Always a pleasure to sail with you and Dave Brawner. Looking forward to the next one. Welcome back Pinky!

Charlie and Bruce, This regatta continues to be a favorite on the NE Cup Circuit. 23 boats on a small pond behind a hotel in Northern VT is testament to yours and Bruce's hospitality. It really does not matter what the wind or weather does, it is simply impossible not to enjoy yourself. Great to see everyone and spend a few days together. Looking forward to next year.

Thanks!
Chuck
