Anybody having any luck finding a room? lots of places are sold out or a normal $85 room is $175. What else is going on in Charleston that weekend?

Dave, I just made a reservation with Motel 6 at the foot of I-526 in 17. $50 per night with no surcharge for Saturday night. Not my preferred choice but they leave the light on.

are the cabins not an option this time? I know they went up in price quite a bit, but I still thought they were a good deal if you fill them up with skippers and split the costs.

Thanks guys. The cottages are $179 ouch, Motel 6 looks like the spot :D
I think I would sail better if I stayed at the Holiday Inn Express though.

Sorry Dave, I agree with the Holiday X thing. They are listed with Price Line as 2-1/2 stars along with Hampton, Marriott and Best Western. The general hotel rate for the Savannah Highway is $169. PL Express rate is $131. It is not even worth a "Name Your Price" bid. So has the state of the hotel situation for our regattas there. So I will be with the bums at M6 and deal with it. The only other resource is North Charleston and that is 20 minutes from the lake at low traffic.

The park cabins finally caught up with the local rates. However, there is a discount rate for the CHS locals that is considerably lower. To get this it is needed to have a local make the arrangements. The park does not mind doing this for the local but someone there needs to set it up. Reichard has done this for the NCRs and I are someone else has run the logging of cabins for the people. It is a big job because of all the shuffling around there is. Becky Gerry did it for her wedding and it worked out well. Still to get the rate down per person, 3 are needed which gives all a room to themselves.

The choice has been for the cabins in years past and I think still is. It is great for socializing and convenience to the lake. A bird-dog is needed.

Sorry Guys!

The cabins have been booked for a while on that weekend. I will try and do a better job with setting up a block of rooms next year.

Not your fault, thanks for checking. Last year it wasn't like this, some other event must be going on that weekend too.

Wow, no posts here since September.

I do not have the scores but that will come later. Today was air brutal. Scoring positions presumed on the last leg was Not. Finishing slots where not secure til the Fat Lady sung for that race.

Kudos to Reichard Kahle for dealing with this as RD. We are blessed with one who never carries labels for himself for continuing service to the class and our enjoyment of sailing.

Good group here with a quiet regatta in trying conditions; very trying.

so BRUTAL in Charleston either means no wind or blowing 30. Which is it?

Alan Perkins had a good Sunday and edged out son in law Ricky Gerry by just one point with the mulligans. Full results and report will be posted soon on the regatta page of this site.
