Boogity, Boogity, Boogity, time to go racing in North Carolina.

I am getting on the road in a little bit. I want to remind all of the skippers to drive safely to the regatta and to watch for those speed traps in NC that Steve Helander warned us about.

For those of you not attending this year's Nationals, I will try to post the scores every evening on the NCR site here: http://www.ec12.org/2013NCR/Home.html
I am sure some skippers will also be posting comments in this discussion site as well.

I am looking forward to some cooler temperatures, fall foliage, and good times with old and new friends.

See you at the lake.

Unfortunately I have had to withdraw. Tried to get some things wrapped up at work to allow my escape but it is not to be. Very bummed as I have had this on my calendar since it was announced. Good luck everyone!

Cheers,

Ernest: You will be missed. Sorry you cannot get away. You were going well at Queenstown.

Anyone who sees Rick West in High Point, please let him know that I have a package arriving with Ken Shaw that needs to go back to Pacfica with him... He already knows this, just don't want him to forget with all the excitement and all.

Day #1 started off with light west winds. Two seeding races and five P/R's were completed. The morning wind direction was straight up the lake and we sailed 2 1/2 lap courses. Soon after lunch, a front rolled through and the wind went way right towards the north. It failed to settle in enough for us to move everything over to the alternate course but we may make the switch tomorrow am.

Off to dinner, more to come.

Day three was by far the best with west winds coming straight down the lake and with B rigs on for part of the day. This made up for the previous day and a half with conditions described as "like being in a washer machine." Heading home in a few and will throw together a regatta report soon. It was a very fun regatta!

This was a great event. The weather presented some big challenges to both Reichard and the skippers. And yes, Washing Machine, is a fitting term. Congratulations to David Brawner for his third NCR win and to Dave Ramos for an impressive defensive effort that fell just a little short. The two of them basically matched race each other while the rest of the fleet battled it out for the remaining positions.

Thank you to Steve Helander, Ron Small, Richard Wiley and the whole crew. You guys really rolled out the red carpet for us and it was much appreciated.

I have 4 sim cards to go through and post photos and as Reichard said, he will have a full report soon. Give us a little bit of time to get this work done.

In the mean time, there is Punta Gorda just around the corner to finish out the year (regatta number 2 for the Florida Association's 2014 season).

David and Dave, The Gold Chevrons were waiting for me in the mailbox when I got home yesterday. I will put them in the mail to you today. Which one of you wants the envelope with 3 chevrons in it?

Joe,
I think everybody would agree that the person who most deserves the three chevrons would be Steve and the entire Greensboro MYC for the great job they did hosting the regatta for us. We all know that hosting one of these events is a huge undertaking. They took care of every detail that was humanly possible. Thankfully, Mother Nature cooperated on day three and allowed their venue to shine with a beautiful breeze right down the middle of the lake.

To the Greensboro MYC, thank you for having us.

Congratulations to Dave Brawner on winning the 2013 EC-12 NCR and to Dave Ramos ; Joe Walter ; Baron Bremer; David Linville and all the other skippers who participated in this prestigious event.

By all accounts Steve Helander and his team from the Greensboro Model Yacht Club did a fantastic job of running the 2013 EC12 National Championship regatta.

Looking forward to seeing you all in Florida at the Jacksonville EC-12 regatta on April 26th & 27th 2014.

Martin Gray.
