Hello Skippers!

Planning is well underway and the actual entry will be up soon. It looks like the park has filled the cabins. How many of you have cabins? Anyone have space and looking for roommates? Thought this might be a good place to share the information.

All the best,

Ernest,

I see that a bunch have accepted the invitation, but how about who has actually sent in their entries so far? I know I sent mine in. Did you get it?

I am looking forward to seeing everyone. It was looking like I was not going to be able to attend, but all is good now.

See you at the lake.

Skippers,
We are waiting for entries from.

Fred Pfeil - will be entering on March 1st
David Ramos - my ride down to Charleston so I am assuming he will enter
Kevin Maclellan - been busy plowing all that New England snow....
Chuck Luscomb - Feb 28, 2013 withdrew his possibility to compete this year

Looks to be at 18 skippers entered, 19 if Chuck can make it.

We have myself, Ken Shaw, Skip Hall and Fred's son has also volunteered to help out with the regatta. Looking to be a fun weekend!

I am really looking forward to sailing in Charleston. It is one of the most beautiful cities in the USA. I am also looking forward to sailing, seeing everyone and watching the dogs play at the park! The black boat and cooler are itching. I hope that all of the "pending" skippers, especially 84, can close the loop and get down there.

Karen and I will be there Thursday and have a couple of good restaurants in mind for dinner. Join us!

Good luck to everyone going to Charleston this weekend. I would have loved to be there for more reasons than just snow! Charleston is one of my favorite sailing sites and the barbecue restaurants in the area are some of the best. With Brawner and my Brother, pretty much anything can happen from a Pub Crawl to being with others "Virtually". I will be looking for updates so keep those texts coming.

Sail fast,

As Chuck says, good luck to all the skippers. Tough missing the season kick off annual trip to Charleston.
Have a Palmetto draft for me.

Day one is in the books. Sun and wind were the theme of the day. Most were happy at some point today and most were dissapointed at some point too. 17 skippers have made the journey and sailed 14 races today. The day started in B's and it wasn't until the last set of the day that some A's made a appearance. If the wind had cooperated we would have scored 15 for the day. Ramos and Kahle have been locked in battle with strong competition from Perkins and Gerry. Brawner started slow and mounted a charge with Pfeil a regular at the top as well.

The forecast for tomorrow looks to be a little warmer then today with a likely start in A rigs. It is the goal to sail 10 more tomorrow.

Reichard is the 2013 Champion
Second by virtue of the tie breaker is Ricky Gerry over his Father In Law Alan Perkins. Fourth was Dave Ramos and Dave Brawner was fifth.

We sailed 24 races with three throw outs. Sunday saw both A rigs and B rigs.

Congratulations again to Reichard. Thanks to a great Race Commitee of Ken Shaw, Skip Hall and Steve Pfeil. Also to Bill Coates Karen Luscomb and Mrs. Perkins for their help.

More once I am home

This event is dependent upon volunteers willing to travel from the qualifying regions, at their own expense, to make it happen. A big thank you to Ernie, Ken, Skip and Steve for stepping up and putting another successful Champions Regatta in the books. It was a great weekend, glad to see everyone, and looking forward to more sailing fun in the 2013 season.

Thanks To all the volunteers who work(ed) very hard to put this on for us! Congrats to Reichard for sailing so well and sadly getting that trophy off my mantel. Sorry about the batteries, the clock is very temperamental. Ricky had one hell of a charge on Sunday.... If the black Camero was on the line, it would be in Ricky's driveway today! I saw two on the lot on the way home. Great to see all of you!
The venue an hospitality is always fantastic. Hope to be back next year.

Best,
