Local hotel information. All Hotels are 7-10 miles (15 minutes) to racing venue. These are near Interstate 40 (two different exits), with lots of food, shopping, and amenities nearby. I can inquire about group rates at any Marriott or Hilton property with 10 rooms or more at a single property.

If booking on your own, I HIGHLY RECOMMEND NOT STAYING NEAR THE KOURY CONVENTION CENTER, GREENSBORO COLESIUM AREA!!!

Preferred Hotel......update 3/29/12

Fairfield Inn & Suites Greensboro Wendover
4308 Big Tree Way · Greensboro, North Carolina 27409 USA
1-336-369-1300

I have secured a group rate of $89.00 per night at this property. To receive this rate, please contact the local hotel number, 336 369-1300, and say you would like the GMYC rate.. Regular rate is $114.00-139.00 a night. This includes Breakfast, high speed internet, and indoor pool. I have blocked out 8 rooms with two doubles, and 2 rooms that have king bed, and queen sleeper sofa. We can always secure more rooms at this discounted rate, but the hotel is booking fast. Any rooms not reserved by 4/20 will be released back to the hotel to sell at normal prices.

Anyone with an RV can stay at the Oak Hollow Campground. Full hookup, cable tv, wifi internet, for $30.00 per night (plus applicable taxes). The pool should be open by then as well. You would be on the opposite side of the lake from the regatta, so please allocate 15 mins travel. We can work out transportation for anyone staying at the campground to and from the regatta.

question - I guess the way to pay using Paypal is to wait until you hear back after emailing your entry info. Not to try to send it to the settinsails email address listed. Paypal says that person/Steve is not registered. Or am I missing something?

Hotel update. There are several college graduations occuring in town the weekend of the Regatta. If you intend on booking at the Fairfield Inn to take advantage of the GMYC group rate, please do so by this Wed/Thurs (4/18). I have to give back any unused rooms to the hotel for general consumption, and will lose the group rate. This is especially important if you are looking for a room with two doubles.

Fairfield Inn & Suites Greensboro Wendover
4308 Big Tree Way · Greensboro, North Carolina 27409 USA
1-336-369-1300

Ask for the GMYC group rate.

Thanks,
Steve

Am I right in thinking that typing 3700 Waterview Road, High Point, NC into my GPS will get me very close to Shelter 6 where the regatta will be held? Thanks.

Scott, Try this link and see if it opens up for you. You can zoom in to a scale you like.

http://g.co/maps/kmddc

Coming from your hotel, you would go west on Wendover Avenue. It intersects with Hwy 68 (Eastchester/Westchester Ave). Crossing straight over that intersection, the road turns into Skeet Club Road. Stay on Skeet Club for 2 miles (approx). You'll cross a bridge over a fingertip of Oak Hollow Lake, and you will take an immediate left. That is Waterview Lane. Follow Waterview until it dead ends at the Sailboat Ramp at Oak Hollow. We will be set up under the shelter.

Google Map directions from the hotel.

Driving directions to 3400 Waterview Rd, High Point, NC 27265

Fairfield Inn and Suites
4308 Big Tree Way
Greensboro, NC 27409

1. Head west toward Big Tree Way 0.1 mi

2. Turn left onto Big Tree Way 0.1 mi

3. Turn right onto Wendover Ave W W 4.9 mi

4.. Continue onto Skeet Club Rd 2.1 mi

5. Turn left onto Waterview Rd 1.6 mi Cross over 4 way stop sign. Stop before water at end of ramp or get really wet and embarassed.

Postby steve h » Mon Apr 30, 2012 9:29 pm

Whos planning on coming to the lake on Friday for testing and tuning? I plan on getting there after lunchtime, but I have to leave about 4:45 for a class. There will be some other folks from GMYC and PMYC there as well.

Thanks,
Steve

Ricky, Becky and I will be there close to dinner time if there is a gathering, but most likely too late to sail.

Steve, with 15 boats do we have one fleet or two?

Steve,

I have one of those fairleads and would be happy to pass it on. Let me know if you need it overnighted or if I can bring it with me this weekend.
If overnighted, remind me of your address.
See you this weekend!
