Green Mountain Regatta - Stowe

Postby cberry » Sun Apr 17, 2011 6:38 pm

The Stowe YC gang is looking forward to seeing you at our annual "New England Cup Points Event" regatta. It is being held on June 4 & 5 this year and the NOR and Entry Form can be found at www.stoweyachtclub.com. Any problems downloading forms, please contact me and I'll forward them to you.

We promise the ice will be off the pond by June 4th; the weather? No promises! (Remember, this is Northern New England). The Commodores Inn beckons, and the Pond is ready to challenge you. Please join us!

Hi Charlie,

Most of the CT group are not coming I am afraid. Most if not all have really good excuses if you could ever imgaine there could be a good reason. I will be someplace between NY and Bermuda while you guys are sailing so I guess that is a pretty good one.

Two folks that you don't have on your list that I know will be there are Doc Greer and Al Dion. Al will be transporting Docs spare boats from CT up there for him.

Sounds like the party is forming. I have my yellow cup but that guy in the bar won't let me bring it in.

Stowe is Stowe. light and fluky with moment of mad dashes.

Lots of races on a nice day with 16 entries I think. This was the most polite sailing I have seen in some time;

Brawner, 21
Dion, 35
Ivor Walton, 37
West, 38
Ward, 43

Tomorrow is moving day. Later...

Well it was glass today with some twitching of the weather vane on the mast. It was quiet with some moaning.

Thanks to Charlie Berry and Gearge Dean for their calming manner in what is trying for both the officals and the competitors. Bob Letwenski was the Starter with Rosi Fitzhugh and Susan Letwenski Scorers.

David Brawner controls the weather and has a cloud following overhead and rippling water beneath the bow. The race was for the rest. David gave a seminar on how to sail Stowe.

1. David Brawer, 26
2. Al Dion, 49
3. Ivor Walton, 52
4. Jack Ward, 57
5. Rob Hill, 73
6. Gary Mueller, 83
7. Rick West, 88 withdrew with mechanical
8. Bob Greer, 124
9. Phil Tonks. 139
10. Mark Fleckenstein, 142
11. Dave Branning, 143
12. Nick Mortgu, 146
13. Doug Amsbary, 153
14. Victor Oberg, 176
15. JD Langdon, 187 First EC12 regatta

It was a good party.

I second everything Rick has said. Stowe is a fantastic venue for model sailing, with wonderful people running the event and typical New England hospitality from the host club. If you haven't been here yet you need to add the Green Mountain Regatta to your schedule. Thanks to everyone involved.

I too would like to thank the Stowe group for a wonderful time .
The Venue and staff, both regatta and hotel, were outstanding;as usual.
Kelli and I enjoyed the warm hospitality and hope to see ya'll soon.
I'll have photos (thank you Susan and Rosie) when Picasa gets over their "technical issues"

P.S.
R.D.'s Charlie & George,
Come on down to Palm Beach Gardens and see how frustrated I get with an East wind on my pond!
You did a great job with what you had in wind.
