I want to thank everyone for coming out to this year's Atlanta Regatta. With 25 skippers attending, it was quite the turnout for top caliber racing as usual in Dixie. As a few have posted near the end of the posts here already, it was a very fun regatta overall. We had some challenging winds on Saturday with winds ranging from B rigs to drifting and everywhere in between. The water conditions were "different"! In the late afternoon on Saturday, it got a little choppy, but overall almost all skippers found the conditions bearable. Sunday morning started out early, with very little wind, but slowly built right through the last race of the day. Overall, a good time was had by all. Results posted below:

1 Reichard Kahle 19
2 John Bottensek 19.2

After hosting the Atlanta regatta for many years, the Allen family is taking this year off. Eric Olson and Scott Vernon are heading the 2011 version along with the staff of the Atlanta Yacht Club on Lake Alatoona, a bit northwest of Atlanta.

The new venue provides excellent courses for the EC12's. Courses can be set in a sheltered cove like area, or, off a point in wide open lake water. A covered pavillion will provide excellent viewing and shelter for those who seek cover from dry or liquid sunshine.

Eric's planning with the Atlanta Yacht Club is well underway. He has raced at all of the different events around the Dixie Cup. Those experiences along with his fresh new ideas will create a great weekend of racing in Atlanta.

The Gone With the Wind Regatta is the first stop of the Dixie Cup Series. You won't want to miss it!!!

Skip, are you sailing?

Eric, Rick Gerry is riding with me. You can probably get his registration at the CR this weekend.

I sent my registration today. Should be a fun regatta, I'm sailing a boat that hasn't raced in 25 years, we'll see what happens.

I might be missing something here. We are gathering at the Atlanta Yacht Club. This is a big deal.

I see 3 from the AYC on the list. I see none from the Atlanta Club on the the list.

Let's get going. I may pass it up and hand it to Reichard. [:D]
