Still plenty of time to plan for this regatta. Many have asked if we are holding a J Boat Regatta and we will be. This will be hosted on Friday, formal racing in a laid back atmosphere. The entry fee will be enough to cover your lunch and some drinks for the day, so less then ten dollars. Please let me know if you are planning on coming to sail your J.

Additionally the entry form is also posted for the EC12 Event as well.

Looking forward to seeing many of you in Stowe in little over a week.

We managed to get in 16 races today. The wind was anywhere from 5 - 10, and in the morning possibly a little stronger. Some skippers were spotted with B rigs but those soon disappeared in favor of the trusty A rig. The wind died a little bit around lunch time and got shifty. It built later in the day to allow us to finish with some great wind. President Elect Brawner has sailed consistently all day with three wins but no finish worse then a sixth. Rinehart is posting four wins with no finishes worse then a seventh. Danny has six wins but a few a little deeper then he would like. Ramos (driven to the event by Alex) has one win and only one race scored less then a six. Kevin has two wins and a couple he rather not talk about. So there is the recap of day one. We are off to Cantler's to enjoy some seafood.

Scores below do not reflect throw outs but we have achieved two to this point. We are hoping to get to twenty four total races for the regatta.

Position Skipper Sail# Points

1 David Brawner 53 46
2 Mark Rinehart 166 59
3 Danny Thomas 1405 67
4 David Ramos 5 73

6 Joe Phillips 1671 107
7 Doug Wotring 153 137
8 Doug Hutchinson 21 138
9 Jake Leo 10 141
10 Alex Ramos 105 148
11 Mark Smith 2081 163

Day two of the 2010 Annapolis EC12 Regatta greeted the skippers an hour later due to daylight savings time taking affect over night. The skippers were hoping to see the forecasted warmer weather for the day yet most agreed that the air felt a little chillier. Maybe that was due to the fact that the wind was up. Again as you surveyed the skippers area you could see several B rigs being readied for action.

A few less skippers arrived to sail in the morning. Jake Leo had withdrawn the previous afternoon and pointed his car north. Young Ramos made his dad drive to the park today and headed into Annapolis to lead his high school team at a regatta. Joe and Kevin were attending to other business for the day.

The goal for the day was eight races to get the skippers to their fourth throw out for the regatta. We had until one thirty to accomplish that.

Race 17 of the regatta got underway shortly after 10 am. Everyone seemed to be moving a little slower this morning. We set a windward leeward course for the day with a 166 at the bottom. A 166 is an inside out gate named after Mark Pinky Rinehart who complained on Saturday for a gate. So the RD decided to call it a 166 starting on Sunday. Danny started his day with a bullet his first of five for the day. Race nineteen was an interesting race as Ramos port tacked the fleet and never looked back for the rest of the race. At one point Brawner said its to quite

As the day went on the wind would build and then die a little bit, tempting more and more skippers to ponder the need for getting out the B rig. By the twenty first race, the wind was up and here to stay. In the next race Doug Wotring sailing a loaner boat from Brawner lost his rig over the side. Doug also spent the weekend bailing his boat out between races. Apparently Brawner didnt lend out a water tight hull. When someone asked Brawner where the hole was, his response was in the hull

By race twenty three we had exactly half the fleet starting races from those that had participated Saturday. One skipper was smart and decided not to brave the conditions since he only had an A rig. On race twenty four one skippers was left wondering how the other skippers were sailing the course and keeping their boats under control in the conditions.

We wrapped it up with race twenty five where Danny ended the day like he started, with a win. As the results were calculated David Brawner was the regatta leader at the end of racing with posting no finishes less than a sixth and only two of those. Seven point clear of Danny. Then we calculated in the throw outs which awarded the 2009 Annapolis EC12 Regatta defending champion Danny Thomas the win again in 2010 on his strength of eleven wins out of twenty five races.

We are looking forward to next year as we ate well this weekend. Thanks to all of the skippers who helped out during the regatta and to my wife Amanda who kept us well feed during the event. Homemade breakfast munchies and cookies and a great meal on Friday night, Sunday was made a little sweeter for the skippers with some homemade brownies supplied by Danny and his son Cody.

We'll post a link to pictures once we can sort through them.
