Well Gents,

We are just under a month away from one of the best sailing events of the season. Newport RI and FT Adams is a very unique stop on the New England circut. Past events have seen calm near drift condtions on one day and 2-3ft breaking waves the next with a foul tide to boot! Check out the photos from 2009 from Bob Greer. Sunday was amazing. Here is the link

Don't miss this one. The NOR and entry forms are posted on the regatta pages and now is the time to get them done.

Motel 6 seems to offer the best rates in Newport with prices around $80/night. Dinner will be dutch at the Coddington Brewery as in years past.

Won't you join us?

Ed Walton MA
Bob Greer FL
Kevin MacLellan CT

Well, Newport did not disapoint. Beautiful weather on Saturday with S winds 5-8. Newport would not be worth it if we did not get a taste of B rigs and for a short time C's might have been a good call. Sunday started off at 8-10kts out of the South but started building at lunch to the high teens and a few races into the low 20's but then it settled to perfect B rig condidtions for the balance of the day.

After 26 races in challenging conditions, the results looked like this...

1-Chuck Luscomb 48pts
2-Bob Greer 68pts
3-Jake Leo 70pts
4-Bruce Walton 73.5pts (Redress)
5-Dave VanCleef 79pts(retired)
6-Dave Ramos 111pts
7-Al Dion 133pts
8-Tim Stone 152pts
9-Kevin MacLellan 182pts (retired)
10-Ed Walton 200pts
11-Ken Koehler 224pts(retired)

Congrats to everyone who joined us. The VFW next door to the resturant will remember us for a long time to come. A great group of folks made the trip to Newport worth every moment.

Full report and photos to follow shortly.

5/4/10- OOOOPPPS! After finding a scoring error, the places changed as shown above. Doc moved up and Jake fell to 3rd. Damn Computers.

Gents,

During the Nor'Easter we had a number of photographs taken. Bob did his usual great job in collecting some great shots. We also had a professional taking some pictures from the crash boat tied to the head of the dock. You can view these at...

and

and

www.cohenphotography.com/ under "latest". Some really intersting shots from a different vantage point.

Matt Cohen got his start in the business shooting an EC12 event in 04' and some of his photos made it into Sail Magazine and he decided to make it a profession.

Enjoy!

Looks like the 12 is going big time. The Matt Cohen photos are featured in Sailing Anarchy today. http://www.sailinganarchy.com/index_page1.php
