Remember that we changed the cook-out to Saturday night this year. Nothing is planned for Friday night, so, you are free to do whatever. Again, the Gwinnett Braves (Atlantas AAA Farm Team) play Friday night just a few miles from the lake. Cheap entertainment if you like baseball. You can get more information about this from the Gwinnett Braves website. There are plenty of eateries (sports bars, drive-ins, etc.) around the Hwy 316 & Hwy 120 intersection. If you go north on I-85 or Buford Dr past the AAA baseball stadium, there is a major shopping complex (Mall of Georgia) with more formal dining, movie theaters and, of course, a shopping mall.

The skippers meeting Saturday starts promptly at 9:00 am, so dont get too crazy Friday night.

Saturday night is the cook-out at the Allen house. We are having a low country boil in the Atlanta hills. The get-together is very informal. Jeans, shorts, t-shirts, tennis shoes, etc. is the norm. Doors open at 6:30 with drinks and a few snacks. The boil should be ready sometime around 7:00 7:15.

Please be careful driving to our regatta. Spring break for most of the Atlanta schools is coming to an end and The Masters crowd may be driving through Atlanta to see Tiger and all those other golfers. Traffic could be a bit heavy.

Call me if you have any problems at (678) 773-8210.

See you Saturday morning!

Sure wish I was going to be there for the Low Country Boil ATL style. Kids are on Spring Break, though.

I kind of miss sailing in light air. My B rig is looking tortured after the Champions Regatta and last years Nationals.

Sixteen skippers from GA, NC, SC, FL and CA competed in beautiful spring Atlanta weather. Two courses were set up perpindicular to one another in order to make speedy course changes as the wind changed, typical for Atlanta. Winds were from nothing to nice in velocity. Protests were actually civil as calls and disagreements were limited by RD. Difference of opinions regarding protests were either acknowledged and accepted or discussed between heats. Gerry Cobley and John Bottensek ruled the single fleet racing. More to follow in the regatta write up later.

Final results are below.

Gerry Cobley 40 1
John Bottensek 48 2
Chris Kakavis 89 3
Tom Germer 100 4
Tony Shoaf 111 5
Rick West 117 6
Scott Vernon 129 7
Eric Olson 131 8
Tom Phillips 136 9
Jim Donohoe 158 10
Mervin Jones 170 11
Dick Gerry 207 12
Jerry Fernald 221 13
Jim Rutherford 238 14
Rodney Leathers 254 15
Chris Priechenfried 295 16

Reichard and Ricky, we received an "excellent" from Dick and Suzanne for the low country boil in the Atlanta hills. They were either extremely polite, or, it actually tasted good. Either way, we received the Gerry's "blessing".

Hope everyone made it home safely!

See you on a lake somewhere this summer!
