I was at the recent regatta in Stowe VT and many members had an aluminum tubular launcher/retriver. Who makes them and where can I get one? I heard they cost around $65.00

I am in the process in trying to make the Launcher mailable, since a box to ship it in it's original shape makes shipping imposible and expensive.
The modifications to make it mailable may also make it easier for Left handed skippers to use.

I made one and it turned out to be "right handed". I figure I will make another left handed one. The desire for a right or left handed one is supposed to be which side someone wants to carry it on, but it seems to me that the determining factor (for a given day) would be whether the wind is blowing from the right or the left, since you always want to launch into the wind.
I believe the flattenable ones made by Bob can be modified to become left or right by adding a second clocking hole at each end.
Great idea and contraption.

Is there a picture of this gadget some place? I'd like to see what it looks like.

Charlie,
Take a look at Support Equipment on the building site. Even if you are young and strong, you still need one.

Bob, have you thought about making the ends removable? If the ends had multiple holes and the hooks had those "push pins" on them, sort of like extending boat hooks, the retrievor could be made ambedextrious. It might also pack a whole lot flatter for shipping.

The one peice is obsolete now, the new and improved version is now foldable and if you want you can remove the ends for getting it in your car and for shipping.
I will be offering a conversion kit to make the one peice into the new version, I will have the kit ready after the new year, so evey one be patient.
