Is there an official version of the 1 or 2 minute starting tape in an electronic format anywhere?

Tom Germer is the guru of starting devices. He has information on building a solid state clock and speaker for both 1 and 2 minute versions; the same used at Atlanta GWTW Regatta. He is likely the have the .wav files if you want to make a disc. You may need a simple sound editing program.

Thanks Rick...
We were out this weekend in the rain (should have not been out there [:D]) and the CD Player that we use of Scott's got wet and died. I would like to have one of the speakers for our races as well.

Eric,
We purchased one of these awsome electronic starting "tapes" for our club. Great device. Dave Ramos at Chesapeake Performance Models built it for us.

Tom Germer is out of the radio making business. He gave Dave Ramos the plans and now Dave makes them. Not exactly cheap. But a great machine to have for any club.

Thanks for the information. I have talked to both Dave and Tom about the starters.

A simple and cheaper solution is to use a small MP3 player and drive some battery powered speakers.
It works great and the batteries last a long time.
Moe: "what's with the three watches"
Curly: "that's how I tell the time!"
