now I understand, you want it to be an open design rather than a 'traditional' one design.

Woody,
Please don't assume that you speak for the majority of EC-12 owners. I love the looks and performance of the existing formula. I also own and sail "developement" class boats and like them as well. Leave the 12's as is.

Hmm not really "Bigfoot55" l just think that it would be nice if 12s the world over were sailing on the same pond i.e if a 12 class allows certain amendments in one part of the world then it should be allowed anywhere in the world.l suppose by the same agrument you could say what one does not allow no one should.
Thats why l feel with a bit of tweeking here and there all the 12s sailing the world over would be come one,and stop being seperate classes.( yeah same old hobby horse !!!)

Bikerrew(is that your real name ? )
l have NEVER asumed to speak for anyone other then myself all my postings have and always been my own opinon which if you were to read you would see that.
And the fact that the reading of this forum has now reached over 300 shows that people do take notice even if they choose not to comment or agree and that is what its for.

The Ec-12 is a one design class.

The Ec-12 was developed in the US

I would think the question should be why Others have deviated from the class rules? not why doesn't the US class follow others.

As I stated earlier I read somewhere where there was no performace gain with curved booms...this should be evidenced by straigh booms winning the worlds.I suppose you could always start yet another AMYA class the EC-12 Developmental class.....alot like the 36-600 guys did.

then you could add wings on your keel, adjustable backstay and anything else you might want.

you could also ask why you can''t use CF deck/ CF booms, CF mast?
