Has the class membership approved the administration to spend almost 2/3rds of the treasury in pursuit of a "class mark".

If not approved by the membership then perhaps you can share the names of the CAC who might have approved this action BEFORE it was undertaken.

Just how will the the class benefit by having a registered mark? Such a mark may well be indefensible given the time the name has been generically used in the public domain not only in the US but worldwide as well.

Control of the design and class membership is already managed through the published class rules. What else is to be gained???

"Passing the hat" (begging is another more accurate description)will most certainly diminish the class reputation and discourage new membership. If additional monies are needed, the class should be asked vote on some sort of annual dues arrangement as does the Florida Association (in their bylaws)

Since no answers seem to be forthcoming, perhaps the moderator should consider closing the "ask the secretary" section
