Need advise on a servo arm, and block to mount to a jib trim servo.
I'm planning to use an 83oz. torq servo. Is such a servo powerful
enough to do the job?

I would not go lower than 83 oz-in. I recently rebuilt a 103 oz-in servo that was used as "Jib trim". The gears were stripped clean.Admittidly the servo arm was longer than standard (to get more adjustment) but not that much longer. In my next life I may use a 1/4 scale size.

What is considered the "standard" length of the jib trim arm?

The "standard" that I use is the adjustable arm at full length. I'll measure it (and the "longer" one that stripped the gears) tonite when I get home if you like. The "standard" arm bends and twists something awfull under jib trim loads so I made an aluminum "T" arm that does not twist but eats gears for kicks.[:(!]

Thanks for the info. The 83oz. servo is a HItec with the karbonite
gears. What would be a good distance to use for the servo arm, with respect to the servo output shaft, and the center of the block? Also
what type of block would you suggest??

Hi Dennis. I use a old Futaba sail servo FP-S125. My arm is 3" long. I use a Hitec FM Ranger Radio, 3 ch. Haven't stripped any gears yet. I use a Ozman sail winch. I route the sheet from a piece of bungee( to take any shock) on the S125 arm to a block mounted up forward on the hull, back to the end of my winch arm to the jib fairlead. So far it has worked pretty good. Don't know what the torque on the 125 is, but it does the job. Hope I explained this OK Good Luck Skip
