Need some advise. What would cause a servo to hum with the slightest of load in its midpoint position. Any ideas? Thanks. Skip

A dirty pot. As the wiper moves, it wears on the conductive carbon ring. This wear removes carbon from the surface and collects on the wiper contact. Open the servo and remove the cover with the three wires. You will see the carbon ring and the contact wiper. Either use a pencil eraser or a cotton swap dipped in alcohol to remove the particles. Add a light coating of pot lube on the ring and reassemble the servo. It should work like it should. Be careful how you reassemble the pot as you can alter the servo centering.

Also make sure you are fully charged - I get this when the juice runs low. Or water gets in where is should not.

For those of you who have a digital camera, taking pictures of the gear placement, or anything else, can be invaluable when it comes time to putting your servo back together again. Its better then some of our failing memories.
