Ok, I have not started searching for the issue just yet.

Radio Power on...Gauge shows 100+% power on a freshly charge batt.

Boat power on. RMG Beeps once.....and sheets in ( plus a bit) despite radio set for full sheet out. Radio helm set neutral....but Rudder servo cranks hard over.

However: Jib Trim is functional

Radio is Hitec laser 6

Any ideas?

Try swapping the servo leads at the receiver, Jib Trim in the Rudder spot, Rudder in the Jib trim spot to see if the problem stays the same or moves.

If it moves with the servo connection change, it is a problem with the servo. If it stays then it is a problem with the receiver or transmitter.

Try a different transmitter with receiver/try transmitter with different receiver to isolate that combination.

Racing out to dinner. Will reply and with more in the morning.

Go back to basics: Make sure the TX and RX are topped off. If you made changes to the electrical on the radio board, check it out. Lick the battery plug to the RX. Uncle Frank swears by this. Recalibrate the RMG with the sails disconnected.

Now, if the problem continues, do what Paul suggested; start swaping to find something bad.

Note: if a servo is malfunctioning it could drive the draw up to where the RMG will not react to programming or will shut down altogether.

Might be a stupid question, but are you sure the plugs are in the right channels on the reciever?? Good luck.

Yes Servo and winch plugs in correct locations. Not only are their positions labeled on the interio of the Hull they were not removed since last sail.

Tonights few minutes of fooling consisted of putting the Rudder servo connector into the known operable Trim servo slot. Full function of the rudder servo in this location.

Your symptoms are consistant with the Phantom in the Bilge, especially the hard over rudder. The condition is intermittent.

Is your RMG wired directly to the battery switch and the RX via the battery plug?

Transmitter issue of some sort.

Put Xtal from EC-12 Rx into the J Rx.....same issues No controls on either sticks

Perhaps messed up when the Battery plug was rewired over the winter.
