Hello all.
I think I found a 5801 replacement for all you outdated sailors (like me), a Bluebird BG-08285SW from flightcomp.com. Cost is only $80 with two different drums available (extra cost, $10 each).
Torque at 6v....22.8 kg-cm/ 316.7 oz-in
Speed at 6v... 0.10 sec/60 deg
6 turn but adjustable either with controller card (sold separately) or with digital transmitter.
The physical size is comparable to a standard servo. 40.5mm x 20mm x 38mm or 1.59 inches x 0.79 inches x 1.49 inches
weight is only 77 +/1 grams or 2.71 oz
Metal case, all metal gears, dual stainless steel bearings, 25 tooth spline (same as futaba 5801, I use the futaba drum on mine with no problem)
I have been using one of these for a few years with out any problems in the EC12. I also run two battery packs, one for the winch and another for the receiver, rudder, and jib tweaker. I have never had a problem with losing control since I did this power setup.
Just as a comparison...
RMG 285el-1 specs
