Radios used in boats?

Postby Steve Hulsey » Wed Oct 27, 2004 1:56 pm

Newbie here,
Just curious about what type of radios do you sailers use in your boats. I'm in the process of planning to build an EC12 and I'm looking at buying a new radio set up. I've used Futaba's in the past in airplanes and my Victoria sailboat. I'm not rich and will have to justify the expense to my wife, so $400 radios are out. Any help here would be greatly appreciated.

I use a Hi-Tec Ranger III with good results. Cost is under $100.
The only change is that I like a knob instead of a slide for jib trim control, Cost of the pot is about $5.
