super short phillips screwdriver for servo arm screws

Postby rs vernon » Thu May 14, 2015 8:51 am

I do not know why I did not think of this years ago.

I needed to remove the rudder servo arm screw which is horizontal with very limited access - near the side of the hull. I used my smallest phillips screwdriver (hex ratchet tool) bit and was able to break the screw loose and remove it. I masking tape the screw to the bit to reinstall.

I figure there might a lot of people with the same problem.

I put a wing-nut on that 4mm screw with "lock-tight" and no screwdriver needed.

Scott, Doc

I change the screws which are metric to allan head cap screws. Futaba uses 3mm x 6 or 8 mm long depending on the servo. If the screw is the sheet metal type then you have to use that style, since nobody make a allen head sheet metal screw.

HiTec uses 2.5 I think, I use Futaba only.

Using allen head screws you can really make them tight and work in tight spaces.

You might try this site for all types of screws.
