Hi,

I have used AA NIMH batteries, 2700MA, 5 cells (6 Volts). I have not had a problem with them lasting a day at a regatta. There is a chain called Batteries Plus that can make up whatever configuration of packs that you want. You have to bring them the connector (Futaba, etc.)and make sure that it is 20 ga wire or heavier. Make up two packs-one is a spare. What kind of transmitter are you using? Usually the batteries supplied in the TX will not last for a day of racing. I changed mine to a NIMH 2200 MA pack.

Also be sure you have a good charger that is designed to charge those batteries.

The best thing for you to do at this point would be to get with someone in your area and find out what they are using. There is not a lot to know about which battery to use for an EC12 but you do want to get your setup correct the first time. Some personal hands on would do you good I think. You're not that far from Charleston so if you can't find help there in Blufton come on up and visit CMYC and I'll let you poke around in my boat all you want. In the meantime here is a link to The Battery Clinic which should answer some of your questions. Also if you are using the RMG the instructions will let you know what battery you need. Hope this helps.

I used 2500ma Batteries Plus packs, and had failures to soon. Their tech guy in another city I visited told me to use the 2000ma for my application/charaging. Have had no problems with at least 6 hours sailing time on a fully charged pack of the 2000.ma.
You can make your own packs however, and lots cheaper.

Thanks skippers for your help.

I am using a 6V 2300mAH battery pack.
I have a Spectrum DX6 TX with an AR6000 RX.

I hope this is a good combo

Hi Bob,

That combo is what I have been using for some time and works really well.

I have had great luck with my batteries so far. I have a 75mHz Futaba radio that uses the 9.6v NiMH and the batteries that I use in my boat are 6.0v NiMH AAx5. I have ordered my batteries from ebay from the user "eee4u".
Here are the links to the packs that he sells.
