Woody,
If you already have a 380 then I would assume it is a 5.5 turn winch. For the EC12 some may get by with 16" of travel but most use 16.5 with the jib trim function. Hence, I think you will need Bob Guyatt's 32mm drum. You may ask him, by email, if he can make a 32mm SDS, spiral step down, drum. That will give you a bit of close haul resolution than without it.

The other option is to get the conversion for the gearbox from Bob, it is cheap, that will convert the 5.5 380 to 11 turns. Then you could use a 20mm SDS drum that would have better resolution.

Hope this helps you make a decision...Rick [8D]

Thanks rick have been in contact with RG and between the two of you problem has been sorted
Woody

just realised should have posted what RG said for others to view
so here it is

your 380 will give enough travel as it is using a 32 std,26 std or
even a 32sds drum.l assume you have a 32 std drum now.
The winch can be modified to increase travel (to 11 turns) so a 20mm
sds can be used. But if l were you l would just use the winch as it is
with the existing 32 std drum for a while and you decide for yourself
if you need to modify it
To modify to 11 turns would cost (5/25/04) about$10.SDS drums are
$12 and return(insured) airmail is $19
