What do you guys think about a jib vang?

Al,
I have only seen something like that on a radial jib fitting. With the offset forestay/jib swivel and a topping lift on a standard rig, there really isn't any need that I can see for a jib vang.

That topping lift is exactly why I am questioning if anyone uses the jib vang as a substitute for the topping lift. The lift is causing me grief in that it tangles once in a while and I figure the vang would do the same as the lift. No? Yes?

Check out Bob Dudinsky's rig.He also became too bothered by a hung up jib topping lift. He uses a vang arrangement just like the MicroMagics do on their main(on the top).
Scope it out at the Valentines Regatta in Palm Beach next month.
