Postby JOHN HARRINGTON » Wed Apr 07, 2004 6:45 am

I have been all over the Internet looking for dimensions to set up a B rig.Does anyone have an idea where I might look? I need info as to shroud attachment points, mast length, etc.
Thanks for any available help.

John,

I just scale down the A rig dimensions by 10%(.1) and use those dimensions for a starting point.

Here are my numbers. Hope they help.

Mast Height: 66"
Spreader Height: 29"
Jib Stay Attachment: 54"

Since there are no rules regulating mast height, that measure is relative to the boom height. Once you know where you want your gooseneck to be, measure up the mast the length of the B main luff and add 2" to allow for adjustment and your mast head crane.

The dimensions listed are

Hi guys, just checked your (US) class rules and note there are no specific mast measurements, just sail ones. So I suppose as long as the sails fit by measurement the max rig they must be okay!!
Our (NZ) rule also specifies measurements for each rig - similar to IOM rules I suppose in that each set of sails has its own mast.
Any one who wants a copy of the NZ measurements please email me direct and I will return same. Be aware tho that our B = US C rig!! Our C = US storm rig[:D]!!! and we use them regularly[8D][8D]!!!
As I understand things the rules we use are based upon the failed International EC12 rule from the early 90's.

Plans are also afoot to try and ne at your nats this year[8D] My new boat is being worked on[:o)] Hope to see you all one day[:p]

Hi Chris,
Just to clarify, the US EC12 maximum mast height is 72" from the deck. There are no specifications for the B and C mast. Anything suitable less than 72" can be used. Figure 1 of the sail measurements is part of the rules and dictates all the sail sizes.

If you all are coming, you will need a US A rig and sails to be the best you can be at Dayton. We need to get together soon if you are coming and for us to accept the challenge for 2005.

From what I saw of Nelson, I will diffently have a US A rig along. Ok?
