Recommendations on vector rig and mast choice

Postby rv4pilot » Mon Sep 22, 2008 6:12 pm

I will be building a new vector style A rig for next year and would like to know which mast is preferred. The flatter Goldspar or the round Groovy style. Please include why you would use one over the other. I have been reading about the Vector style rig on the building part of this site. Any improvements to it other than what is now on the site? Thanks....... Jeff

Is it time to sail yet?

Jeff,
I have used the Groovey because I am using the Bantock parts from Midwest, as shown on the building site. They fit the 7/16" mast.

I suppose you could use the concept with a Goldspar. That concept is the sweep of the spreaders so they will introduce the mast bending with varying tension of the upper and mid shrouds. The lower shroud is nothing more than a limiter of the bend when there is pressure on the sails.
